My Story (Minogue book)
"My Story" is the official autobiography of Australian singer and television personality Dannii Minogue. Co-written with her long-time friend Terry Ronald across the UK and Australia, the book was released in autumn 2010.

🤰 The Backstory: A Life-Changing Turning Point
After what she described as a life-altering 2009, Dannii Minogue felt it was time to put pen to paper. At 38 years old, several major milestones encouraged her to open up about the ups and downs of her life:
  • Motherhood: Her pregnancy and the arrival of her first son, Ethan, served as the primary motivation for writing the book.
  • Setting the Record Straight: The artist used this project as an opportunity to reveal the truth behind long-standing rumors and personal struggles.

💥 Major Revelations in the Book
In this memoir, the pop star doesn't shy away from sensitive topics, addressing head-on:
  • The truth behind her divorce from actor Julian McMahon.
  • Her infamous backstage arguments with Sharon Osbourne on the set of The X Factor in 2007, the year Dannii first joined the judging panel.
Ahead of its official release on September 30, 2010, the prominent British newspaper The Daily Mail serialized the book. A paperback edition, complete with an all-new epilogue chapter, was later released in March 2011.

💬 A Highly Polarized Critical Reception
Upon its release, the memoir drew vastly different reactions from the international press:
  • In the UK 🇬🇧: The Evening Standard pulled no punches, dismissing the book as a "snore" despite the substantial £300,000 advance paid to the star.
  • In Australia 🇦🇺: The reception was notably warmer. The West Australian called the biography "fascinating" and noted that it makes Dannii Minogue highly "likable." Meanwhile, the Sydney Morning Herald offered a nuanced take, dryly noting that while "the tome will probably never make it into the annals of the great literary contributions of our time," it serves its purpose.
