Club President Confirms Former Barcelona Defender Alba's Signing with Inter Miami

Former Barcelona defender Jordi Alba will be joining Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, according to the club's president, Jorge Mas. The 34-year-old left-back was released by Barcelona at the end of the previous season after an impressive stint with the club, featuring in over 450 games. During his time there, he secured numerous accolades, including the 2015 Champions League title, six LaLiga titles, five Copa del Rey titles, four Spanish Super Cups, and the Club World Cup.

Alba, who has represented Spain in more than 90 international matches, will now become a part of the growing ex-Barcelona contingent at Inter Miami, as both Messi and Sergio Busquets have already joined the team.

Mas revealed, "He has already signed his contract and will be arriving in the next few days. Tata (coach Gerardo Martino) has plans for him," during an interview with TyC Sports on Tuesday.

Inter Miami is also pursuing the signature of another former Barcelona player, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who is currently playing for Gremio in Brazil. However, Mas respected Suarez's current club affiliation, saying, "he is a Gremio player, and I respect that," acknowledging that talks have taken place.

Furthermore, the MLS club's president confirmed the acquisition of Paraguayan midfielder Diego Gomez from Libertad and disclosed that they have officially contacted Argentine side Racing Club to inquire about Tomas Aviles.
