Krief Takes Over as CEO of Renault's Alpine Brand
On Thursday, Renault replaced Laurent Rossi as the chief executive of its Alpine sportscar brand, which competes in Formula One, and appointed Philippe Krief to take over the position. According to a statement from the Renault Group, Rossi will now be focused on "special projects linked to the transformation of the Group."
Previously serving as the Alpine brand's vice-president of engineering and product performance, Krief brings valuable experience to his new role. He has also worked for Ferrari as the director of engineering in the past.
Renault Group CEO, Luca de Meo, expressed his optimism about Alpine's future, stating that the brand is now ready to enter a new phase of development and become a brand of the future.
Earlier this month, Alpine had already announced leadership changes, appointing Bruno Famin to take overall responsibility for all motorsport activities, including the Formula One team and world endurance.
The principal of the British-based Alpine Formula One team, Otmar Szafnauer, now reports to Famin, who in turn has a direct report to Rossi.
Rossi made headlines in May when he issued a warning that changes would be made before the end of the season if performance did not improve and pointed out that the responsibility ultimately rested with Szafnauer.
