Slow cooker gravy chicken

Ingredients : 


1 tbsp olive oil

800g chicken breast fillets

1 large brown onion, cut into thin wedges

4 1/2 tbsp chicken gravy powder

185ml (3/4 cup) cooking cream

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp chicken stock powder

3 thyme sprigs

Mashed potato, to serve

Cooked peas, to serve


Method Steps : 


Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown. Transfer to a slow cooker. Reduce the heat to medium and add the onion to the frying pan. Cook, stirring often, for 3-4 minutes or until the onion is soft and lightly golden. Transfer to the slow cooker.


Place the gravy powder in a large heatproof jug and add enough boiling water to make up to 375ml (1 1/2 cups). Add the cream, Worcestershire sauce, stock powder and thyme and stir until well combined. Pour over the chicken in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.


Turn off the slow cooker. Use 2 large forks to shred the chicken. Stir to combine the chicken with the gravy. Serve with mashed potato and peas.
