Slow cooker pilau rice

Ingredients : 


2 tbsp olive oil

50g butter

1 large brown onion, sliced thinly

3 garlic cloves, crushed

1 tsp ground turmeric

300g (1 1/2 cups) basmati rice


Method Steps : 


Heat oil and butter in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, for 4 minutes or until softened. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant. Stir in turmeric and rice to coat.


Transfer rice mixture to slow cooker. Stir in 750ml (3 cups) water. Cook, covered, on LOW for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Turn off the slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper. Fluff pilau with a fork just before serving.
